We tested the Crafty+ over multiple weeks. Vapor quality competes with portables costing more, and the one-button interface makes it one of the simplest vaporizers to pick up and use. The catch: a 2019 design with 5-session battery life, 60-second heat-up, and app-dependent temperature control.
For users who prize S&B vapor quality in a pocket-friendly package, the Crafty+ still makes sense. It misses the cut for the 11 picks in our portable vaporizer rankings, where the Venty and Mighty+ hold the Storz & Bickel spots. Those needing more battery or modern features should look at the Venty instead.
Storz & Bickel is phasing the Crafty+ out. Its retail partners say current stock is the last, even though S&B's own store still sells it for now. Warranty support continues for new units, so a Crafty+ bought today is covered like any other. If it fits how you vape, don't wait too long.
Crafty vs Crafty+: what changed
Storz & Bickel launched the original Crafty in 2014. The Crafty+ followed in 2019 and added a third preset, Super-Boost, above the base and boost temperatures. The current revision charges over USB-C and has the ceramic-coated oven.

PEEK plastic body stays cool during back-to-back sessions
The body uses PEEK (polyether ether ketone), a medical-grade plastic rated for constant heat exposure. Angular fins running down the shell dissipate heat effectively, keeping the exterior comfortable even after consecutive sessions.
The Crafty+ measures 110 × 57 × 33 mm. It slips into a jacket pocket without bulging, and the swivel mouthpiece tucks flush for transport. A stir tool hides under the orange plug at the base. It fills surprisingly little of your palm.

The 1.4 cm³ oven has a ceramic coating that resists residue buildup between cleanings. Vapor then runs through the cooling unit on top, which comes apart for cleaning. With Storz & Bickel's water pipe adapter, sold separately, you can run it through a water pipe too. S&B's German engineering and IEC 60335-1 safety certification back the build quality.

The Crafty+ combines conduction from heated oven walls with convection from hot air pulled through the cannabis during each draw. This dual approach extracts evenly without stirring mid-session. It's the same heating architecture used across S&B's portable lineup.
Heat-up to 180°C takes about 60 seconds from cold. That trails many current portables, but the Crafty+ delivers full vapor from the very first draw. There's no warm-up period of thin, wispy hits before the real session starts.
A typical load is about 0.25 g of ground cannabis. Medium-ground cannabis produces the best balance of flavor and cloud density. Fill it loosely rather than packing it tight, and the Crafty+'s forgiving nature does the rest.

Three on-board presets span 180-210°C. Hold the button for half a second to power on at the starting temp, 180°C. Double-click for boost, 195°C. Triple-click for Super-Boost, the 210°C maximum. Temp-stepping through all three presets in a single bowl gets everything out of the oven. Start at 180°C for flavor, bump to 195°C when vapor thins, then finish at 210°C for the last dense hits.
The cooling unit earns its name. Even at 210°C, vapor arrives smoother and cooler than what most portables this size deliver. Terpenes come through clearly at lower temperatures, while higher temps produce denser, toastier clouds with more body.

Draw resistance is low and natural. Inhaling feels closer to breathing through a wide straw than pulling through a tight tube. This open airflow is a defining Crafty+ trait and one of the reasons it's so easy to share with someone who has never used a vaporizer.
2800 mAh gets 5 sessions before you're plugged back in
The 2800 mAh internal battery is the Crafty+'s weak spot in our testing. We measured approximately 5 sessions per full charge at mixed temperatures. Heavy use at 210°C drops that to 3-4. Conservative use at 180°C can stretch to 6.
A full USB-C charge takes about 120 minutes. It reaches 80% in about 80 minutes. The blue LED flashes while the cell charges and stays solid once it's full. There's no pass-through charging, so the Crafty+ won't heat while it's plugged in. Charge it between sessions.

The battery is not user-replaceable, and a worn cell goes back to S&B service. Capacity will fade over years of daily use with no swap option. S&B's two-year warranty covers manufacturing defects but not normal cell wear. Unlike some S&B vapes, the Crafty+ gets no extra year for registering. This is the single biggest reason the Crafty+ falls behind competitors offering removable 18650 cells.
One button, zero learning curve
The Crafty+ is one of the simplest cannabis vaporizers you can buy. Hold the button for half a second to power on and start heating. Wait for the green LED and haptic vibration. Draw until the session ends. No technique, no stirring, no fiddling.
It's a session vaporizer through and through: turn it on, vape for a few minutes, power down. Hand it to a friend at a gathering and they'll produce good vapor on the first try without any instructions.
Dosing capsules take the simplicity further. These aluminum containers pre-load with ground cannabis, drop into the oven, and keep most of the residue out of the chamber. Maintenance is minimal. Let the oven cool, then brush out the AVB (already vaped bud) after each session. When the draw tightens or you spot buildup, unplug the Crafty+ and take the cooling unit apart. Set the cap lock aside to wipe separately, and soak the rest plus the chamber screen in isopropyl alcohol for up to 30 minutes. Rinse and let everything dry completely. The ceramic coating resists sticking, so a lightly dampened cotton swab handles the oven. Just keep liquid out of the electronics and never submerge the body. Crafty+ web app: precision you won't need daily
Built-in controls cap you at three temperature presets. The S&B web app unlocks 1°C steps across the full 40-210°C range. It serves both Android and iOS now that the old app is gone from both app stores. Use Chrome on Android, or Bluefy or WebBLE on iPhone.
The app also shows battery level and total operating hours. It lets you set the boost offset, LED brightness, vibration on or off, and the auto-shutoff timer, which defaults to two minutes. A locator helps you find a misplaced Crafty+ within Bluetooth range.

Dial in your preferred starting and boost temps once, and you'll rarely reopen the app. The vape remembers your settings, so the phone can stay in your pocket. Final Verdict
The Crafty+ still produces some of the smoothest, fluffiest vapor of any pocketable portable VapeExperts has tested. Ease of use is unmatched in its size class. But a 5-session battery, non-replaceable cell, and missing built-in temperature control keep it a step behind newer alternatives at similar or lower price points. Storz & Bickel's own Veazy offers a slimmer, slightly lighter S&B portable for less, worth considering if faster heat-up matters more to you than shape.
S&B's own store still sells the Crafty+ for now, but retailers say current stock is the last. At a sale price it's still a genuinely good buy for anyone whose habits fit its battery, and it comes with S&B's two-year warranty.
