Storz & Bickel is closing the book on two of its longest-running vaporizers. The Plenty and the Crafty+ are being phased out of production, with remaining stock selling through retailers until it's gone.
S&B hasn't published an official announcement or end date yet; the phase-out reached the market in late June through the company's European retail partners as part of sell-off planning, and the clearance pricing on S&B's own store points the same direction. To be clear about what this is: a phase-out, not a recall. There is no safety problem with either device, warranty support continues, and both remain fully usable and serviceable. They simply stop being made. We'll link S&B's official word, and the exact date, as soon as it exists.
Fifteen years of the power drill
The Plenty has been in production since 2011, which makes it ancient by vaporizer standards. It never looked like anything else on the market: a handheld desktop unit resembling a power drill, with an exposed stainless steel cooling coil and an analog dial straight out of a German workshop.
That coil was the point. In our testing, the Plenty 7.5 still produces some of the smoothest, densest draws of any desktop we've used, at roughly a third of Volcano Hybrid money. It survived fifteen years without a redesign because it didn't need one.
The Crafty+ closes out the Crafty line
The Crafty+ arrived in 2019 as the refined version of the original Crafty, which S&B produced from 2014 to 2022.[1] Between the two of them, the Crafty line defined what a pocketable convection-conduction hybrid could be, and the Crafty+ 7.4 remained the smallest way to get true S&B vapor for years.

The Crafty+ in its natural habitat. S&B produced the Crafty line for twelve years across two generations.
Its retirement follows a familiar pattern. S&B has been trimming the back catalog for years: the Volcano Digit went in 2020, the original Crafty in 2022, the non-plus Mighty in 2024.[1] The Plenty and Crafty+ were the two oldest designs still standing.
What the lineup looks like now
Once the last units sell through, the Storz & Bickel range consolidates around five devices: the Volcano Classic and Volcano Hybrid on the desktop side, and the Mighty+ 8.7, Venty 9.1, and Veazy 7.8 in portables.
The logic is hard to argue with. The Venty outperforms the Crafty+ in nearly every measurable way, and the Veazy undercuts it on size and price. The Plenty leaves without a direct replacement, though; nothing else in the lineup delivers whip-style desktop vapor at its price point.
A quarter century of S&B hardware
With these two gone, the full production history looks like this:
| Year | Device | Status |
|---|---|---|
| 2000 | Volcano Classic | Still in production, 26 years and counting |
| 2007 | Volcano Digit | Discontinued 2020 |
| 2010 | Volcano Medic | Discontinued 2019 (medical line continues) |
| 2011 | Plenty | Being phased out, 2026 |
| 2014 | Crafty | Discontinued 2022 |
| 2014 | Mighty | Discontinued 2024 |
| 2019 | Crafty+ | Being phased out, 2026 |
| 2019 | Volcano Hybrid | In production |
| 2021 | Mighty+ | In production |
| 2023 | Venty | In production |
| 2024 | Veazy | In production |
Two things stand out. The Volcano Classic has now outlived every device S&B launched in the following two decades except the Hybrid. And the release cadence has accelerated sharply: one new device per decade-ish stretch early on, then Mighty+, Venty, and Veazy in a four-year span.
So when does the next one land? Pure speculation
Nothing is announced, and S&B doesn't leak. But the pattern since 2021 is a new device roughly every 18 to 30 months (Mighty+ in 2021, Venty in 2023, Veazy in 2024), which would put the next launch somewhere in 2026-2027. Discontinuations have also tended to bracket launches rather than follow them: the original Mighty exited in 2024 as the Veazy arrived, and the Crafty went in 2022 once the Mighty+ was established.
Reading those tea leaves, retiring the Plenty is the more interesting signal. The portable side of the lineup is fresh, with three devices under three years old. The desktop side is a 26-year-old Classic and a 7-year-old Hybrid, and the Plenty's exit leaves the mid-price whip-draw slot empty. If we had to bet, and this is purely a bet: a new desktop, or a Volcano refresh that stretches down toward the Plenty's price bracket, announced within the next 12 to 18 months. A Venty+ following the plus-refresh tradition is the other obvious candidate, though the Venty hardly needs one yet.
We'll update this story when S&B actually says something.
If you wanted one, this is the window
Clearance pricing has already started. S&B's own store currently lists the Crafty+ at 238 euros, down from its 298 euro regular price.[2] Expect similar movement on the Plenty as retailers work through inventory.
Both devices remain solid buys at a discount, with the usual caveats from our reviews: the Crafty+ runs about 5 sessions per charge on a non-replaceable battery, and the Plenty demands a full 0.5 g oven and four minutes of patience. Warranty coverage applies to units bought during the phase-out.
For current owners, nothing changes when production ends. Spare parts, cooling units, and repair support follow S&B's usual long tail; the company still services devices years after discontinuation. When stock finally runs dry, our desktop rankings and portable rankings track the alternatives.
