Testing you can trust

Most vaporizer "reviews" are rewritten spec sheets. We buy the device, live with it for two weeks, verify temperatures with an external thermocouple, run multi-cycle battery tests, and photograph extraction quality. If we can't measure it, we don't claim it.

The 14-Day Testing Process

Four phases, zero shortcuts. Here's exactly what happens between unboxing and publishing a score.

VapeExperts team unboxing and inspecting a new vaporizer
Days 1–2

Unboxing & First Impressions

We photograph everything out of the box, document included accessories, and record first-use experience. How intuitive is the setup? Can a beginner start using it without a manual? We note build quality, materials in the vapor path, and any quality-control issues.

Days 3–7

Structured Performance Testing

Every device is tested at three temperature ranges: low (170-180 °C), medium (185-195 °C), and high (200-210 °C). We verify displayed temperatures against an external thermocouple. Battery life is measured over multiple complete charge cycles, and heat-up time is timed with a stopwatch.

Days 8–12

Real-World Daily Use

The device becomes our daily driver. We use it in real conditions: at home, outdoors, with friends. This phase reveals issues that short tests miss: does draw resistance increase with residue? Does battery life degrade? How often does it need cleaning, and how easy is that?

Scoring & Comparison

We score the device across all five categories, cross-reference against every device we've previously tested, and photograph extraction quality (AVB color analysis). The final score is a weighted average, with vapor quality carrying the most weight.

AVB extraction color comparison at three temperature levels: light, medium, dark

Extraction analysis: we photograph AVB at each temperature range to evaluate efficiency and consistency.

The 5-Category Score

Each device is scored 0-10 in five categories. The final rating is a weighted average because not all categories matter equally.

Vapor Quality(30%)

Flavor clarity, vapor density, smoothness, and consistency across three temperature ranges.

Ease of Use(20%)

Loading, controls, cleaning. Can a beginner use it without reading a manual?

Value(20%)

Performance-to-price ratio, accessories, warranty, and price tracked over time.

Build Quality(15%)

Vapor-path materials, fit and finish, durability, and repairability.

Portability / Features(15%)

For portables: size, battery life, heat-up speed, and discretion. For desktops: delivery modes, temperature precision, app connectivity, and accessories ecosystem.

What We Use

External thermocouple verifying a Venty's temperature display reads 180°C

Temperature & Performance

Every device's displayed temperature is cross-checked with a K-type thermocouple at multiple settings. We time heat-up with a stopwatch and run multi-cycle battery drain tests from full charge to empty.

Cleaning and maintaining a Mighty Plus vaporizer oven after testing sessions

Materials & Maintenance

Standardized cannabis flower (medium grind) with filling aids for consistent loading. We clean after every session and document how quickly residue builds and maintenance difficulty.

AVB extraction comparison showing different temperatures and efficiency levels

Extraction Analysis

We photograph already-vaped bud under controlled lighting at each temperature range. AVB color tells us exactly how efficiently a device extracts, and whether it heats evenly or leaves cold spots.

Head-to-Head Comparisons

Every device is tested alongside its direct competitors at the same temperatures, with the same material. Side-by-side sessions reveal differences that isolated testing misses.
