October 2024 Update
It’s been three years since the Mighty+ hit the market, and it remains one of my most used portable vapes. While newer competitors like the Solo 3 and Venty boast faster heat-up times and flashy features, the Mighty+ still delivers some of the best vapor quality around.
Sure, it’s a bit bulky compared to the pocket-friendly Crafty+, but that extra size allows for a bigger battery and cooler vapor. And though the price tag is high, the Mighty+’s longevity and reliability make it a worthwhile investment compared to cheaper options like the XMAX V3 Pro.
If I had to nitpick, I wish Storz & Bickel would refresh the Mighty+’s plastic body to feel more premium. But when it comes to sheer performance and ease of use, this vape is still tough to beat, even in 2024. It remains a top choice for anyone serious about vaping cannabis.
Quick Review Summary
- Top-tier vapor quality
- Upgraded USB-C charging
- Excellent battery life
- Easy to use
- Medical & UL certified
- Tons of accessories and customization options
- Expensive at $399
- Bulky, not very portable
- Plastic body feels cheap
- Cooling unit can be difficult to clean thoroughly
Unboxing and First Impressions
The Mighty+ comes securely packaged in Storz & Bickel’s signature cardboard box. Inside you’ll find:
- Mighty+ Vaporizer
- USB-C charging cable
- Dosing capsule
- Cleaning brush
- 3 spare screens and o-rings
- User manual
The Mighty+ makes a strong first impression with its large size. This is a big vape, measuring 5.5″ tall, 3.2″ wide and 1.2″ deep (14 x 8 x 3 cm). It has some heft to it too, weighing about half a pound (230 grams).

The body is made of a durable plastic with a “fins” design on the exterior that acts as a heat sink to keep the vape cool. While functionally great, the plastic construction does make it feel a bit cheap considering the premium price point. I would have loved to see some metal or glass incorporated.

The bright LED display is a highlight, clearly showing the current and target temperatures, as well as battery life. The orange and minus buttons for precise temp control are intuitively laid out on either side.

Overall, while not a discreet vape by any means, the Mighty+ feels solid, well-constructed and intuitive to use right out of the box. The plastic body is my only real complaint so far – I expect premium materials at this price point.
Key Upgrades from the Original Mighty
As a top-five vaporizer brand for over two decades, Storz & Bickel has set themselves apart with innovation. The Mighty+ builds on the strengths of the original with several key upgrades:
USB-C charging: The most important update, the Mighty+ features a convenient USB-C charging port, ditching the outdated proprietary charger of the OG Mighty. You can now charge it anywhere with a USB-C cable, even from portable power banks.

Faster heat-up time: The Mighty+ is ready to vape in just 60 seconds, a 30% improvement over the 90 seconds of the original. It’s still not the fastest vape, but a very welcome upgrade.

Ceramic-coated bowl: The filling chamber now has a ceramic coating, an upgrade from the all-aluminum bowl of the OG Mighty. This makes it more durable and stain-resistant.
Superboost mode: Double or triple-tap the power button and the Mighty+ will instantly boost the temperature by 27°F (15°C) or 54°F (30°C) for 90 seconds. Great for finishing off a bowl with thicker vapor.
Improved housing: The exterior “fins” design has been tweaked for better grip and heat dissipation. The plastic is also more scratch-resistant.
Heating System and Vapor Quality
[P6 – Closeup of Mighty+ oven showing ceramic coating]
The Mighty+ uses a hybrid convection/conduction heating system, combining the best of both worlds. A conduction oven provides even heat while hot air flows through for efficient convection extraction. The result is top-tier vapor quality, with thick, tasty clouds from start to finish.
The ceramic-coated oven, an upgrade from the original’s aluminum, keeps the vapor path clean and flavorful. No metallic taste here. The isolated airpath, from oven to mouthpiece, ensures pure vapor with no electronic interference.
[P7 – Mighty+ with visible vapor]
The vapor is impressively cool and smooth for such a powerful vape, thanks to the long vapor path and cooling unit. Even at max temp of 410°F (210°C), I experienced no harshness or irritation, just tasty clouds.
The Mighty+ oven holds about 0.3 grams of ground herb, a good amount for solo or group sessions. It works best with a medium to fine grind, evenly packed but not too tight. The dosing capsules are great for easy loading and keeping the oven clean.
Battery Life and Charging
The Mighty+ battery life is excellent, one of the best of any portable vape. I consistently get 8-9 sessions per charge, each about 10-15 minutes. That’s 90+ minutes of use, enough for a full day of heavy vaping or a weekend camping trip.
[P8 – Mighty+ charging via USB-C]
Charging is now much more convenient with USB-C. Using the included cable and a 2A power brick, the Mighty+ charges in about 2 hours. With the separately sold Supercharger, you can get to 80% in just 40 minutes. Pass-through charging allows you to use it while plugged in after about 20% charge.
My only complaint is that the batteries are not user-replaceable. For such a premium vape, I’d like the option to swap in fresh batteries for longer excursions away from power.
Ease of Use
Using the Mighty+ is a breeze, even for total beginners. The controls are simple and intuitive:
- Remove the cooling unit and load your ground herb into the oven. Replace the cooling unit.
- Press the power button. The vape will power on and begin heating to your set temperature, shown on the display.
- Once it vibrates and reaches temp (about 60 sec), inhale slowly from the mouthpiece. Enjoy!
- To power off, press and hold the power button. The Mighty+ will automatically shut off after 2 minutes of inactivity.

Precision temp control is easy with the large display and arrow buttons. Double or triple-click the power button to engage the “Superboost” mode and instantly raise the temp for thicker vapor.
The Mighty+ also features a convenient vibration alarm when it reaches temp and when it powers off automatically. No guesswork needed, just wait for the buzz and you’re ready to vape.
Portability and Discretion
[P11 – Mighty+ in a hand to show scale]
At 5.5″ tall and half a pound, the Mighty+ is not the most portable or discreet vape. This is a big boy, closer in size to a portable battery pack than most vape pens.
It will fit in most pockets, but creates a sizeable bulge. Definitely more of an “at-home” or “throw in a backpack” vape than one you can palm and use stealthily.
[P12 – Mighty+ next to common objects for size comparison]
The Mighty+ also lacks any real discretion with its large LED display and bright orange buttons. Using it in public will definitely turn some heads and raise questions. The strong herbal smell when vaping doesn’t help either.
If portability and stealth are priorities, the Mighty+ is probably not your best choice. But for sheer power and performance in a semi-portable package, it’s tough to beat.
Should You Buy the Mighty+?
[P13 – Mighty+ with a “thumbs-up” or other positive imagery]
The Mighty+ is an excellent dry herb vaporizer, offering top-tier vapor quality, battery life and ease of use. The new USB-C charging and faster heat up time are welcome upgrades over the original.
However, the high price tag and bulky design may be drawbacks for some. This is not the most portable or discreet vape, and the plastic body doesn’t scream “premium.”
[P14 – Mighty+ vapor quality demonstration]
If you have the budget and value performance over pocketability, the Mighty+ is absolutely worth buying. It’s a powerhouse vape that will satisfy even the most demanding users.
But if you need a vape that’s easy to take on the go or you’re put off by the price, there are more portable and affordable options out there (like the Crafty+ or Arizer Solo 2) that still offer great vapor quality.
The Mighty+ earns a strong recommendation for anyone seeking a premium at-home vaping experience and who can stomach the cost. It truly lives up to the hype as one of the best dry herb vapes on the market.
