VapeExperts Review of the Crafty+
The Crafty+ packs Storz & Bickel's hybrid heating into a genuinely pocketable body. At 135 g and 110 mm tall, it fits in a jeans pocket and produces vapor that punches above its size class.
We tested the Crafty+ over multiple weeks. Vapor quality competes with portables costing more, and the one-button interface makes it one of the simplest vaporizers to pick up and use. The catch: a 2019 design with 5-session battery life, 60-second heat-up, and app-dependent temperature control.
For users who prize S&B vapor quality in a pocket-friendly package, the Crafty+ earns a place on our portable vaporizer rankings. Those needing more battery or modern features should look at S&B's Venty instead.
The clock is now ticking on that recommendation. In late June 2026, word reached the market through Storz & Bickel's retail partners that the Crafty+ is being phased out of production, ending a seven-year run. This is a phase-out, not a recall: retailers continue selling remaining stock, warranty support carries on, and clearance discounts are already appearing. If the Crafty+ fits your needs, the next few months are the last chance to buy one new.
What's in the Box
Storz & Bickel has trimmed the accessories over successive revisions. The current kit includes:
Crafty+ vaporizer with cooling unit attached
USB-C charging cable
Cleaning brush
3 base seal rings
3 normal screens and 3 coarse screens
1 dosing capsule
Quick-start and safety instructions
We laid the full kit out on a wooden table for the shot below: cable, brush, manual, screens, and rings, everything that arrives in the box.
The filling aid and grinder from earlier kits are no longer included. The filling aid is a worthwhile add-on that funnels cannabis directly into the oven without spillage.
PEEK plastic body stays cool during back-to-back sessions
The body uses PEEK (polyether ether ketone), a medical-grade plastic rated for constant heat exposure. Angular fins running down the shell dissipate heat effectively, keeping the exterior comfortable even after consecutive sessions.
The Crafty+ measures 110 × 57 × 29 mm. It slips into a jacket pocket without bulging, and the swivel mouthpiece tucks flush for transport. A stir tool hides under the orange plug at the base. Our black test unit, photographed in-hand against a wood-panel wall with its orange logo facing out, shows just how little of your palm the body actually fills.
Whether you own the Crafty+ or are still deciding, your thoughts and questions are welcome here.

The VapeExperts Editorial Team
Every vaporizer we cover is bought, lived with, and tested by the same small team. We log temperatures with an external thermocouple, run battery cycles to depletion, and spend at least two weeks on a device before we score it. No manufacturer has ever paid for, previewed, or influenced a review on this site.
The oven is lined with ceramic over stainless steel, resisting residue buildup between cleanings. The stainless steel vapor path runs through the cooling unit on top, which disassembles into three pieces without tools. S&B's German manufacturing and TÜV SÜD safety certification back the build quality.
Fluffy, well-cooled clouds from a hybrid heater in 60 seconds
The Crafty+ combines conduction from heated oven walls with convection from hot air pulled through the cannabis during each draw. This dual approach extracts evenly without stirring mid-session. It's the same heating architecture used across S&B's portable lineup.
Heat-up takes about 60 seconds from cold. That trails many current portables, but the Crafty+ delivers full vapor from the very first draw. There's no warm-up period of thin, wispy hits before the real session starts.
The 0.25 g oven handles everything from a fine grind to small whole nugs. Medium-ground cannabis produces the best balance of flavor and cloud density, though the Crafty+'s forgiving nature means you'll get solid results regardless of technique. Our close-up of the open oven shows the blue seal ring and the mesh screen sitting cleanly at the base of the chamber.
Three on-board presets span the range from 180°C to 210°C (Super-Boost). Single press powers on at the starting temp. Double-click activates boost. Triple-click maxes out at 210°C. The app unlocks 1°C precision across the full 40-210°C range for users who want finer control, as covered in our temperature settings guide.
Temp-stepping through all three presets in a single bowl extracts 6-15 draws and fully cashes the oven. Start at 180°C for flavor, bump to 195°C when vapor thins, then finish at 210°C for the last dense hits.
The cooling unit earns its name. Even at 210°C, vapor arrives smoother and cooler than what most portables this size deliver. Terpenes come through clearly at lower temperatures, while higher temps produce denser, toastier clouds with more body. The shot below of our black unit against a dark background, exhaling a thick 210°C cloud, is exactly what the top preset delivers.
Draw resistance is low and natural. Inhaling feels closer to breathing through a wide straw than pulling through a tight tube. This open airflow is a defining Crafty+ trait and one of the reasons it's so easy to share with someone who has never used a vaporizer.
2800 mAh gets 5 sessions before you're plugged back in
The 2800 mAh internal battery is the Crafty+'s most persistent criticism, and our testing confirms it. We measured approximately 5 sessions per full charge at mixed temperatures. Heavy use at 210°C drops that to 3-4. Conservative use at 180°C can stretch to 6.
USB-C charging takes about 120 minutes to reach full capacity. The blue LED in our photo below glows steadily whenever the cable is plugged in and the cell is topping up. The Crafty+ supports pass-through charging, letting you vape while connected to power, though charging pauses when the heater activates.
The battery is not user-replaceable. Capacity will degrade over years of daily use with no swap option. S&B's 3-year warranty (with registration) covers manufacturing defects but not normal cell wear. This is the single biggest reason the Crafty+ falls behind competitors offering removable 18650 cells.
One button, zero learning curve
The Crafty+ is one of the simplest cannabis vaporizers you can buy. Press the button once to power on and start heating. Wait for the green LED and haptic vibration. Draw until the session ends. No technique, no stirring, no fiddling.
It's a session vaporizer through and through: turn it on, vape for a few minutes, power down. Hand it to a friend at a gathering and they'll produce good vapor on the first try without any instructions.
Dosing capsules take the simplicity further. These stainless steel containers pre-load with ground cannabis, drop into the oven, and keep the chamber spotless session after session. Pre-fill a handful for the day and reloading takes seconds. Our dosing capsule guide covers whether they're worth adding to your routine. Loading without capsules is just as painless: in our photo we funnel ground cannabis straight into the open oven with the orange filling aid, no spillage.
Maintenance is minimal. Brush out the AVB (already vaped bud) after each session while the oven is warm. Every 15-20 sessions, disassemble the cooling unit and soak the parts in isopropyl alcohol for 10 minutes. The ceramic coating resists sticking, making a cotton swab and alcohol the only tools needed. Full step-by-step instructions are in our vaporizer cleaning guide.
Bluetooth app adds precision but isn't required daily
Built-in controls cap you at three temperature presets. The Storz & Bickel app (Android) or web app (for iOS users, since Apple banned vaping apps) unlocks 1°C precision across the full 40-210°C range.
The app also displays detailed battery level, total operating hours, and customizable settings: auto-shutoff timer (1-5 minutes), LED brightness, and vibration intensity. A "Find My Crafty" feature triggers vibration and flashing LEDs within Bluetooth range. In our photo the temperature screen sits open on the phone while the Crafty+ next to it shows its green ready LED.
Most users dial in their preferred starting and boost temps once, then rarely reopen the app. The web app works in Bluetooth-capable browsers but feels clunkier than the native Android version. If you use iOS, expect a slightly frustrating initial setup before the built-in presets carry you through daily sessions.
How It Compares
Crafty+ vs Mighty+
The Mighty+8.7 uses the same hybrid heating with a larger 0.3 g oven. Vapor quality is nearly indistinguishable between the two. The Mighty+ adds 11 sessions per charge (vs 5), an OLED temperature display, and direct built-in control without any app.
The trade-off is portability. At 242 g and 140 mm tall, the Mighty+ doesn't fit in a pocket. The Crafty+ at 135 g disappears into a jacket, 107 g lighter. For the detailed spec breakdown, see our Crafty+ vs Mighty+ comparison. If pocketability isn't a priority, the Mighty+ delivers more for the money.
Crafty+ vs Venty
The Venty9.1 represents a generational leap from the same manufacturer. It heats in 20 seconds versus the Crafty+'s 60. A 140 W heater adjusts output to match draw speed, and adjustable airflow opens up to 20 L/min. Battery life hits 11 sessions per charge.
The Venty sits at flagship pricing (roughly 50% more) and weighs 252 g. It outperforms the Crafty+ in every measured category except size and cost. For the full breakdown, see our Crafty+ vs Venty comparison. If budget allows, the Venty is the stronger buy.
Crafty+ vs Veazy
The Veazy7.8 is Storz & Bickel's newest portable and the Crafty+'s most direct competitor within the same lineup. The Veazy uses conduction heating and a smaller 0.2 g oven, but adds built-in precise temperature control without needing an app.
The Veazy edges ahead with 6 sessions per charge (vs the Crafty+'s 5), a slimmer pocket profile at 134 g, and a lower price. The Crafty+ counters with hybrid heating for more even extraction, a larger 0.25 g oven, and the cooling unit for smoother draws. For most buyers in 2026, the Veazy is the better pick on value, see our Crafty+ vs Veazy comparison for the full breakdown.
Crafty+ vs POTV Lobo
The POTV Lobo8.2 costs considerably less than the Crafty+ and includes features the S&B vape lacks: a removable battery, full built-in temperature control, and harder-hitting vapor output. It has reshaped what buyers expect at this price tier.
The Crafty+ counters with smoother, fluffier vapor and a more comfortable draw. S&B's cooling unit produces a gentler experience, and the PEEK build inspires more long-term durability confidence. But on pure price-to-performance, the Lobo challenges the Crafty+'s value directly.
Who Should Buy the Crafty+
Light-to-moderate daily users who vape 3-5 sessions per day will stay within the battery range and appreciate the 135 g pocket-friendly body.
First-time vaporizer buyers who want guaranteed good vapor without any learning curve, technique adjustments, or tinkering.
S&B portable owners who already use a larger vape at home and want a dedicated pocket companion for outings and travel.
That last point is where the Crafty+ shines. Our on-location shot below, one of our testers vaping from the black unit outdoors under a clear blue sky, is exactly the use case this vaporizer was built for.
Final Verdict
The Crafty+ still produces some of the smoothest, fluffiest vapor of any pocketable portable VapeExperts has tested as of mid-2026. Ease of use is unmatched in its size class. But a 5-session battery, non-replaceable cell, and missing built-in temperature control keep it a step behind newer alternatives at similar or lower price points. Storz & Bickel's own Veazy now offers a smaller, lighter S&B portable at the same price, worth considering if pocket size matters more than oven capacity.
With the phase-out underway, the Crafty+ has become a closing-window purchase. At clearance pricing it remains a genuinely good buy for anyone whose habits fit its battery, and S&B's warranty applies to new units sold through the phase-out. Once stock runs out, the Veazy takes over the entry slot in the lineup.
