Already Vaped Cannabis Capsules: How Much THC Is Left?

AVB strength changes with every load, so start with one small, weighed capsule and treat it like your first edible, whatever your smoking tolerance.

Key Takeaways

  • The THC left in AVB depends on how you heated each load. Only a lab test of the spent bud gives a real number.
  • Mix a batch, weigh each portion on a 0.001 g scale and label the jar with the batch and weight.
  • Start with about 0.1 g, take one capsule, and skip alcohol and extra cannabis while you judge it.

Put about 0.1 g of mixed AVB in your first capsule, and take only that one capsule that day. Already vaped bud (AVB) is the cannabis left in your DynaVap after a session. How much THC, the part that gets you high, is still in it depends on how you heated it.

How much THC is left in AVB?

There's no typical percentage, because every load gets heated differently. Bud from one light heat cycle stays light brown and still has a fair amount left. Bud you reheated until it tasted like nothing turns dark brown and has much less.

Different caps and combinations all affect the heating, so what works for one may not be perfect for you.

Only a lab test of the spent bud gives a real THC number. An accurate result needs a sample that matches the whole batch. It also needs a lab method proven to extract and measure the THC.

The percentage on your original jar describes the fresh flower, before you vaped it.

Making AVB capsules

Knock each spent load into its own jar once the tip has cooled, and keep that jar away from your fresh flower. It's already dry and crumbly, so it needs no grinder. When you have a few grams, mix the batch well so light and dark bud spread evenly.

Weigh each portion on a milligram scale, one that reads to 0.001 g. Fill empty gel or veggie capsules, the swallowable kind. The scale gives every capsule the same weight, which is a repeatable portion, not a known dose.

Capsules beat eating AVB off a spoon. They hide the taste, and each one holds exactly what you weighed.

Store the capsules in a jar labeled with the batch and weight, locked away from children. Our AVB guide walks through capsule filling and six other uses for spent bud.

Why a heavy smoker still starts small

A big smoking tolerance says little about how a swallowed capsule will hit you. With a joint or a DynaVap, you feel each hit soon and stop when you've had enough. With a capsule, the whole portion is inside you before you feel any of it.

Your first capsule

Take your first capsule at home on an evening with no driving and nothing planned, and take no second capsule that day. Skip alcohol, and don't top up with your vape while you judge it. Mixing cannabis with alcohol or other substances raises the risk of severe impairment.

If you've never eaten cannabis, try a labeled low-dose edible first, where you can buy one legally. Its label gives you a known THC amount to judge your edible tolerance against. Once you know how that feels, your AVB capsules are easier to read.

Write down how strong it felt next to the weight and batch. Feeling little or nothing is a useful result too.

Next time, change the weight by 0.05 g at most and use the same batch. Until you know that batch, take one capsule and no second one that day.
