The AirVape Legacy Pro makes a strong first impression with its sleek black hemp and vegan leather exterior accented by glossy gold trim. The refined, luxurious styling sets it apart from most portable vaporizers and suits upscale home decor.

The Legacy Pro feels solid and durable in the hand thanks to its aluminum alloy body. At 4.7″ tall, 2″ wide and 1″ thick (12cm x 5cm x 2.5cm), it’s compact enough to fit in a pocket but has some heft at around 0.5 lbs (232g). The textured hemp and leather provide welcome grip compared to fully metal or plastic vapes.

Flipping open the magnetically-latched lid reveals the gold-plated heating chamber, which can hold about 0.3g of finely ground cannabis. The adjustable micro-dosing disk on the inside of the lid allows you to reduce the bowl size for more efficient solo sessions. A small stir tool is cleverly integrated into the casing below the oven.

The Legacy Pro uses a removable 18650 battery, which is accessed along with the glass vapor path under a latch on the back side. Being able to swap in spare batteries is a huge plus for heavy users and extends the vape’s lifespan. The black ceramic zirconia mouthpiece attaches magnetically but doesn’t feel that secure – I could see it getting lost if you’re not careful.

Overall, the AirVape Legacy Pro makes an excellent first impression with its high-end look and feel. The build quality seems top-notch, with a good balance of durability and portability (even if it is a tad heavy). I’m excited to see how it performs!
Heating System and Vapor Quality
One of the biggest improvements AirVape made from the original Legacy to the Legacy Pro is the heating system. While the Legacy used pure convection heating, the Pro utilizes a hybrid convection/conduction system powered by a beefy 3200mAh battery. This allows it to achieve impressively fast 15-second average heat-up times while delivering denser, more potent vapor.
The Legacy Pro’s gold-plated ceramic oven conducts heat efficiently to vaporize your herbs or concentrates. Hot air is then pulled through the oven, across a glass tube, and out the ceramic mouthpiece to produce smooth, flavorful draws. Haptic feedback lets you know when it’s reached temperature and ready to hit.

You can choose from a full range of temperatures between 200°F-440°F (93°C-227°C) to customize your experience. Lower temps produce more flavorful, tastier vapor while higher temps generate bigger clouds and stronger effects. The precision controls let you dial in and save your ideal temp down to the degree.
In my testing, the Legacy Pro produced excellent vapor quality and potency with dry herb. The first few draws had remarkable purity and terpene presence, almost on par with top tier portables like the Mighty+. Flavor started to decline after the first 5-6 hits but the vapor stayed impressively dense and extractable.

The Legacy Pro also performs exceptionally well with concentrates thanks to the included pad and “Wax Mode” which boosts the temp range up to 464°F (240°C). I was able to get several intensely flavorful and potent hits from a small rice-sized amount of live rosin. The quick heat-up and cool-down makes it easy to take a dab on the go without wasting material.
One thing to note is the Legacy Pro’s vapor does run a bit hot, especially at the higher temps. Even 315°F (157°C) felt slightly harsh on the throat after a couple long draws. Thankfully, the vape works very well with water pipe adapters and bubblers to provide smoother, cooler hits. I highly recommend picking up the “Hydro Tube” accessory if you enjoy water-conditioned vapor.

Battery Life and Charging
The AirVape Legacy Pro is powered by a 3200mAh 18650 battery, which is impressive for such a portable vape. Even more impressive is that the battery is user-replaceable, so you can swap in a fresh one on the go for extended sessions. Spare batteries cost $25 from AirVape.
In my heavy use tests, I was able to get about 8-10 sessions (roughly 90 minutes of runtime) from a single charge. This is well above average for a portable, especially one with such fast heat-up times. Your mileage will vary based on temp settings, session length, and whether you’re using dry herb or concentrates, but it’s still very solid battery life overall.
[P7 – The Legacy Pro’s 3200mAh 18650 battery]
When it comes time to recharge, the Legacy Pro offers two options: USB-C or wireless Qi. Using the included USB-C cable, you can top up the battery in around 2 hours. Wireless charging is a bit slower at 3 hours, but is a nice option to have for convenience. You can also use the vape while it’s plugged in, so you never have to go without.
The LED display provides a battery level indicator and the vape gives haptic feedback when the battery is low or charged. For heavy users, I definitely recommend picking up an external charger and a couple spare 18650s to minimize downtime. But for most people, the Legacy Pro’s battery life is fantastic.
Portability and Discretion
At 4.7″ tall, 2″ wide and 1″ thick (12cm x 5cm x 2.5cm), the AirVape Legacy Pro is definitely portable but not quite as pocket-friendly as some other vapes in its class. The Crafty+, for example, is a bit shorter and slimmer. And at around 0.5 lbs (232g), the Legacy Pro has some noticeable heft in the hand or pocket.
That said, the flat mouthpiece and squared-off design does make it easy to slip into a purse, bag, or jacket pocket. The matte black hemp/leather exterior also doesn’t scream “cannabis vaporizer” like some of the more futuristic-looking portables out there. It could easily be mistaken for an external battery pack or small e-reader.
[P13 – The Legacy Pro next to an iPhone for size comparison]
In terms of discretion, the Legacy Pro is about average for a portable vaporizer. The black ceramic mouthpiece and tinted glass airpath do a good job masking visible vapor, but you’ll still see a small cloud on the exhale. The device does have a slight odor when heating up and in use, but it dissipates quickly and isn’t as noticeable as smoking.
One thing to watch out for is the Legacy Pro’s haptic feedback, which causes the device to vibrate quite loudly when it reaches temp and when powering on/off. This could draw unwanted attention in quiet environments. Luckily, you can turn the vibration off in the settings if stealth is a concern.
Overall, the AirVape Legacy Pro is a solid choice for a portable vaporizer, especially if you don’t mind a little extra size and weight. The swappable battery and USB-C charging make it easy to keep powered up on the go. Just be mindful of the mouthpiece and keep a small case or bag handy for transport.
Verdict
After testing the AirVape Legacy Pro extensively, I’m convinced it’s one of the best dual-use portable vaporizers on the market, especially for cannabis concentrates. The hybrid heating system and premium materials produce top-shelf vapor quality and the removable battery means you’ll never run out of power.
I was particularly impressed with the Legacy Pro’s performance with wax and live rosin. The concentrate pad and “Wax Mode” temp settings made dabbing on the go as easy as using a pen, but with much better flavor and effects. The fast heat-up time is also a big plus for quick sessions.
Dry herb performance is excellent as well, delivering potent and tasty vapor that rivals the Crafty+ or Mighty. The adjustable bowl size and on-demand heating make it efficient for solo sessions and micro-dosing. Just be prepared to clean it regularly, as the oven and airpath can get gunked up quickly with heavy use.
My main gripes with the Legacy Pro are the flimsy mouthpiece, which feels prone to breaking or getting lost, and the heft/bulk compared to other portables. At $269, it’s also quite expensive, especially considering you’ll want to pick up a case and spare battery or two.
But if you’re looking for a premium portable vaporizer that can handle both flower and concentrates with ease, the AirVape Legacy Pro is tough to beat. The vapor quality, feature set, and build quality are all top-notch. It’s a great option for cannabis connoisseurs and heavy users who want the best of both worlds in a portable package.
