The Ditanium Vaporizer is one of the most interesting desktop vaporizers on the market. Made by Hardwood out of Arizona, it’s a 2-in-1 unit meaning you’ll be able to vaporize both dry herb and concentrates out of the same device. It comes in a nifty and portable kit with an included whip and attractive wooden exterior. In this in-depth review, we’ll give you a full rundown of how the Ditanium works so you can determine if it’s the right desktop vaporizer / e-rig to add to your arsenal!

Unboxing and First Impressions

The Ditanium makes a great first impression with its handsome wooden exterior available in your choice of natural bamboo or black finishes. At 6 x 4 x 4 inches and weighing 2.5 pounds, it’s fairly compact for a desktop unit. The kit includes everything you need to get started:

  • Ditanium vaporizer
  • Glass herb chamber with screen
  • Silicone whip tubing
  • 14mm titanium mouthpiece/water pipe adapter
  • Power supply
  • User manual

The only thing notably missing is a carb cap for concentrates, which is sold separately but I’d consider essential. Still, it’s a complete kit to get you vaping either dry herb or dabs right out of the box.

The heart of the Ditanium is its unique heating system. A ceramic heater rod wrapped in titanium reaches vaping temperatures in about 30 seconds. However, optimal performance is achieved by letting it heat soak for 5-10 minutes. This allows the surrounding quartz and titanium components to fully saturate with heat for denser, more potent vapor.

The Ditanium functions as a true vaporizer for dry herbs and an e-nail for concentrates, giving it the rare ability to vaporize both. For flower, the glass attachment holds up to 0.3 grams and keeps your herb separated from the heater for pure convection. With concentrates, you simply touch your dab directly to the quartz cup surrounding the heating element and inhale as it vaporizes.

The temperature is controlled by a dial that ranges from 0-900°F (480°C). Obviously you won’t be cranking it to the max for cannabis. I found the 12 o’clock position ideal for dry herb and 11-1 o’clock best for dabs. With concentrates, carb cap is key for dialing in the experience. Lower temps with the carb cap produce smoother, tastier hits while higher temps generate massive clouds.

Heating System and Vapor Quality

The Ditanium’s convection heating produces excellent vapor quality for both dry herb and concentrates. By keeping your flower physically separated from the heater, it thoroughly extracts the active compounds with minimal risk of combustion. The all-quartz and titanium airpath from the heater to the mouthpiece preserves the pure flavors and aromas.

With the glass attachment, I found the Ditanium delivers best results with a medium grind packed fairly tight. You’ll want to let it heat soak for at least a few minutes for the densest vapor. I start inhaling gently with the dial around noon and then ramp up the force as I finish the hit. Stirring the bowl every couple hits ensures even extraction. Expect 4-6 very satisfying hits from a full 0.3g bowl.

The vapor is surprisingly smooth and flavorful considering the Ditanium’s power. Credit the long air path of the whip for providing some cooling. That said, running it through a bubbler makes it even smoother, especially at higher temperatures. The included 14mm titanium mouthpiece fits perfectly in any 14mm female glass joint.

Concentrate performance is equally impressive. With the dial between 11 and 1 o’clock, it vaporizes your dab thoroughly and evenly as you inhale. You can go lower for smoother flavor or higher for thick clouds. The optional carb cap is a must-have accessory in my opinion. It lets you vape at lower temps and contains the vapor.

My favorite way to use the Ditanium is with dry herb and concentrates together for hard-hitting combo hits. I start by pre-heating a packed bowl for a few minutes, then add the dab and start inhaling as it melts in. The two materials vaporize in harmony, generating seriously potent hits with incredible flavor. If you enjoy the effects of flower and concentrates combined, this is a highly effective way to consume them.

The Ditanium’s heater has the power to keep up with even the longest, strongest inhales. While the vapor does get warm, it’s never harsh or irritating thanks to the whip and glass. Flavor is excellent, with the pure neutral materials letting the natural terpenes shine. And the effects are as potent as you want, easily delivering a strong “one and done” hit or several lighter hits.

One thing to keep in mind – the Ditanium is not a vape for lightweights or the THC-sensitive. Even small doses can hit unexpectedly hard. The sheer power and efficiency of the heater extracts a high percentage of the active compounds. Expect a very pronounced “ramp up” in effects after 10-15 minutes that can catch you off guard if you’re not prepared.

Design and Build Quality

[P6 – Beauty shot showing the Ditanium’s premium fit and finish]

The Ditanium is a well-built, smartly designed vaporizer. The solid hardwood base is durable and looks great on a desk or shelf. At 6 x 4 x 4 inches, it has a relatively small footprint for a desktop. The power cord plugs into the back so it can sit flush against a wall.

I appreciate the thought put into the Ditanium’s safety features. The hot components are all recessed into the wood base, protecting you from accidental burns. Even if it tips over, the heating element is not exposed. This gives it a big advantage over most e-nails with their dangerously exposed coils.

The only part that gets hot to the touch is the small metal section where the glass attachment connects. The glass does get very hot during use, so be careful when removing it. I recommend letting it cool down completely before touching.

All the materials in the vapor path are medical grade and heat safe. The titanium, quartz and glass preserve the purity of the vapor without any off flavors. The silicone whip is food-safe and flavorless. My only minor gripe is the whip can develop a “sticky” feel over time from the reclaim buildup inside. Using a whip clip to keep it off surfaces helps minimize this.

Ease of Use

Using the Ditanium has a learning curve, but it’s fairly intuitive once you get the hang of it. The most important thing is starting at low temperatures and working your way up slowly until you find the ideal range for your material and inhalation speed.

With dry herb, I grind to a medium consistency and pack the bowl fairly tight, about 2/3 full. Then I let it heat up for a few minutes before taking a hit. I start with the dial around 12 o’clock and inhale gently, then increase the force and temperature if needed. Stirring after every couple hits keeps it vaping evenly.

[P7 – Photo showing proper dry herb packing technique in the Ditanium’s glass attachment]

For concentrates, I set the dial between 11 and 1 o’clock. Then I pre-heat the nail for about 20 seconds before applying the dab directly and inhaling slowly. Using the carb cap keeps the vapor contained and lets me vape at slightly lower temps.

The combo hits have a little more technique involved. I start by pre-heating a packed bowl for 2-3 minutes with the dial around 12:30. Then I apply the dab to the cup as I’m inhaling the dry herb vapor. A slow, steady inhale vaporizes it all together for a powerful hit.

Cleaning and Maintenance

One of my favorite things about the Ditanium is how easy it is to maintain. The glass attachment, whip and titanium mouthpiece can all be soaked in isopropyl alcohol when needed. For the quartz nail, I just crank the unit to max temp and let it self-clean for 5 minutes. The high heat burns away any residue, leaving it looking like new.

I recommend brushing out the glass attachment’s screen after every few bowls to keep the airflow free. Once a week or so, I’ll also scrub the screen with an isopropyl-soaked cotton swab for a deeper clean. With regular light maintenance like this, the Ditanium keeps performing at its best.

The only part that’s hard to clean is the inside of the whip tubing. Over time, reclaim builds up and leaves a sticky residue. Soaking it in very hot water can dissolve some of the buildup. But the best solution is to just replace the tubing every month or two as needed. It’s affordable and will keep your vapor tasting fresh.

Overall, the Ditanium is a low-maintenance vape considering how heavily I use it. A quick brush of the screen and a heat cleaning of the nail is often all it needs. With a little more care and regular iso soaks of the glass and titanium components, it still looks and hits like it did on day one.

Portability

The Ditanium is not a portable vaporizer. It’s a desktop unit that needs to be plugged in to function. At 6 x 4 x 4 inches and 2.5 lbs, it’s not something you can slip in a pocket or easily pack in a bag.

That said, it’s still fairly compact and lightweight for a desktop vape. This makes it easy to move around the house from room to room. I’ve brought mine to friends’ places for group sessions and it travels well. Just be careful packing the glass pieces as they can break if not protected.

If you’re looking for a portable dry herb vaporizer with similar vapor quality, check out the Storz & Bickel Mighty. For concentrates, the Sai Top Airflow and a box mod is the closest portable setup to the Ditanium’s hard-hitting e-nail performance.

Battery Life

The Ditanium is powered by a wall outlet, not a battery. It uses a 12 volt DC power supply with a barrel connector, similar to many other desktop vapes. The cable is about 6 feet long which gives you some room to position the unit.

Being plugged in has advantages. You never have to worry about charging batteries or running out of power mid-session. The Ditanium can run continuously as long as it’s plugged in. I’ve accidentally left mine on overnight several times with no issues.

The downside is you’re tethered to an outlet. You can’t use the Ditanium outdoors or anywhere that a power source isn’t available. For home use this isn’t an issue, but it does limit portability compared to battery-powered vapes.

Warranty

The Ditanium is covered by a 2-year manufacturer’s warranty against defects. This is a good warranty for a desktop vaporizer. It shows Ditanium stands behind their product.

I’ve had my Ditanium for over a year of heavy use without any problems. The simple design with few moving parts makes it reliable. The solid hardwood base is durable and protects the electronics inside.

If anything does go wrong, Ditanium has good customer service. They responded quickly the one time I reached out with a question. Several other Ditanium owners I know have had positive experiences with their support.
